A Taste of Old Anaheim
Orange County’s microbrewery scene continues to flourish.
Greg Gerovac has spent his whole life around beer. His grandfather worked for Pabst Brewing Co. in Milwaukee. Greg and his wife, Barbara, who grew up in Huntington Beach, learned to appreciate fresh local beer during seven years in Bavaria. They polished their own brewing skills in northern Virginia, then returned to Barbara’s native California, where they reopened the 140-year-old Anaheim Brewery, closed since Prohibition. The tasting room is housed in the 1920s Packard Building. Enjoy the well-hopped Anaheim 1888 or fuller-bodied Anaheim Red at a 30-foot bar from Anaheim’s demolished Covered Wagon saloon. 336 S. The Anaheim Brewery is outSTANDing!! I too developed a taste for full-flavored beer while stationed in Germany, and Barbara and Greg do it just right. They are as devoted as business owners, and as creative and meticulous as brewers as you could hope to find. Drop by with some friends, and get a flight of tasters. My favorite is the crisp Tavern Ale, but every brew from the lighter Anaheim Gold Lager to the seasonal Oktoberfest to the Chocolate Porter is consistent, gorgeous in color, and incredible in taste.
They brew the best tasting beer in SoCal! We love it and the Tasting Room!
This is a marvelous space obviously created with much love and knowledge of the whole microbrewery scene but with a levened eye towards the history of Anaheim! What a much needed “new” tradition! This should be a must visit for the pure aesthetics! Check out the excuisite beer labels on display in the showcase! This is a class act!
