addams-familyMeet the Addams Family

The funny first family of darkness moves into Costa Mesa at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

The Addams Family, a smash-hit musical comedy that brings the darkly delirious world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and Lurch to spooky and spectacular life, is playing at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts Dec. 18-30. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman and Mark Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer /lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning directors/designers Phelim McDermott and Julien Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with creative consultation by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks. Make reservations at nearby Leatherby’s Café Rouge before the show for a special Addams Family-inspired menu. Dishes include the Uncle Fester—Albacore tartar, yuzu “air,” avocado, sweet anise lace croutons and soy-marinated onions—and the Tango de Amore consisting of grilled barramundi, Israeli cous cous “paella,” saffron aioli and chimichurri. For dessert, try the Move Toward the Darkness—a decadent Black Forest dark chocolate mousse cake with kirsh cherry gelee and brownie crumble. $41/pp; $60/pp with wine pairing. Top Recommended Attractions in Los Angeles

What are some of the best attractions to see in LA? The Los Angeles Farmers Market makes for a great afternoon. Started in 1934 to help alleviate the hardships of the Depression, the market has expanded from little more than a vegetable stand and these days features restaurants, specialty shops, street performers, and plenty of direct from the farmer vegetables. You can also find jewelry, toys, candles and kitchenware. After that, you can take a visit to Exposition Park, covering over 160 acres, several museums, the Sports Arena, Expo Center and Rose Garden. There are also beautiful rose gardens, a fountain and gazebos that make it a perfect place to unwind in the afternoon.
