Through July 15. In honor of crime fighters everywhere, Gaijin Noodle + Sake House is serving up a Batman-themed ”Dynamic Duo,” featuring Bat Bao and Robin Kakigori. Gaijin’s paired its signature carnitas bao bao, a steamed bao bun stuffed with house made shredded carnitas pork, garnished with sunomono salad, pink rock sugar and peanuts with its mango kakigori sake cocktail that consists of thinly shaved ice topped with sake infused sweet and spicy mango syrup garnished with a cucumber mask. This Batman-and-Robin-style entrée and drink pairing is the perfect dynamic duo for lunch or dinner. Gaijin also extended its yakitori hours to include the hours of the convention. Part of La Jolla Playhouse’s Page to Stage series, The Nightingale is the tale of a young prince about to be crowned Emperor, but his rebellious spirit first longs to see the realm he’ll rule. When a courageous young fisherwoman brings him a wild nightingale that sings the song of his heart, he can no longer resist the world outside the palace walls. The Nightingale features an evocative contemporary score by Duncan Sheik, and book and lyrics by Grammy and Tony Award winner Steven Sater.
